Aluminum prices are trending slightly upward this year; however, at this time, prices are in a short-term sideways trend. Tariffs and supply concerns linger and should continue to support prices.

Axles are Syntace 12mm thru-axles with flush fitting bolts, and at the back, the same threads used to secure the axle also secure the derailleur hanger into the frame. All cables and hoses are internally routed and the frame is compatible with all current groupsets on the market. There’s a simple external seat clamp and as with the UP, and the seat tube angle has been designed around a zero-offset 27.2mm seat post. The BB386EVO bottom bracket is compatible with all road cranksets. 

The machine has default arc start settings for 3/32-inch tungsten, but if you regularly use a different diameter, you can dial-in the machine to tailor your arc starts as desired. You can also change the AC waveform, selecting between Advanced Square, Soft Square, Triangle, and Sine Wave. I have found that the default settings work very well for me, but you can experiment with these settings if you want. The triangle waveform keeps the heat at the lowest level, with the greatest benefits seen on thin metals.

Due to the increased use of flat-rolled aluminum in the automotive industry, supplies of the semi-finished metal have grown tight in the U.S. marketplace. The usage of aluminum in vehicles will likely continue to increase due to the need for automakers to adapt to 2025 Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) fuel economy standards. Some additional vehicle lines, especially those with greater sales volume, could convert to aluminum “white bodies.” For 2018, the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator now also use aluminum bodies.

I’ve used the aluminum brazing rods for years and they’re absolutely wonderful for small fittings & repair.

Q: I have a project that requires welding 6061-T6 extrusions to themselves and to 6061-T6 sheet. My local welding distributor says that I can use either 4043 or 5356 filler metal, but this doesn’t make sense to me. Isn’t 5356 stronger?

And then there is folks like me who have dc tigged ally using flux (not solder flux lol flux for gas welding ally) and stick alu rods(flux coated) its messy but done clean enough produces a strong weld on a poverty budget. I must say tho when well prepped some of the aluminium brasing rods are very impressive.

Temperature and field dependent magnetic data of CoL4 are depicted in Fig. 2. The effective magnetic moment μeff starts at the value of 4.50 μB at room temperature, which is considerably higher than the spin-only value for the S = 3/2 and g = 2.0 (μeff/μB = 3.87) as a result of significant contribution of the orbital angular momentum to the ground state. The μeff/μB starts to decrease on cooling below 30 K reaching the value of 3.62 at T = 1.9 K, which is caused by the zero-field splitting (ZFS). The same phenomenon is also responsible for the large deviation of the isothermal magnetization curves measured at T = 2 and 5 K up to 5 T from the theoretical Brillouin’s function (Fig. 2). As a result of DFT calculations, we can consider Co(II) atoms magnetically well separated from each other and we can safely use the spin Hamiltonian formalism for a monomeric complex to interpret experimental data of CoL4 as follows24

Both temperature and field dependent magnetization data were fitted simultaneously with the aim to obtain plausible parameters and it was found that satisfying fit was already obtained when rhombic anisotropy was neglected. As a result, the best-fitted parameters were found as g = 2.27, D = –10.1 cm−1 and χTIP = 5.3 ⋅10−9 m3mol−1 (Fig. 2), where χTIP stands for the contribution of temperature-independent paramagnetism.24

To save stress and fuel, fifth gear kicks in relatively early, but there’s still so much oomph on tap that this Merc on steroids will peak at an indicated 327km/h, which is all the shorter 2.65:1 axle allows. That’s not enough to qualify for the Guinness World Records but it’s plenty to show it has guts and foresight when pushed to the limit.
